| Background: | The County of El Paso’s Information Technology Department (ITD) is committed to providing scalable, sustainable, and efficient technology solutions. To achieve this goal, ITD continually monitors the resources utilized to ensure we meet the growing demands of our users. Storage resources (known commonly as ‘hard drive space’) are of particular concern because of the rapidly increasing utilization of video, photographs, and other large digital objects.
The technology infrastructure that provides County employees with access to most technology-based solutions is dependent on this digital storage. Functions, including data file storage and enterprise-level applications (Odyssey, Munis, etc.), are all dependent on this foundation.
County application servers are dependent on a particular type of digital storage known as a “fast storage array”. This special digital storage provides for the optimal performance of these servers to serve the over 3,300 users in the County system. The growth of the County’s dependence on new and upgraded applications requires the continued use of this existing fast storage.
ITD is requesting that the Court approve and authorize the County Judge to sign this agreement for the continued maintenance and support of the County’s digital storage. This agreement has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney’s Office, and the Purchasing Department. ITD recommends approval. |
