During the FY 2023 County Budget Hearings, the Human Resources Department presented new position requests for various departments. The Commissioners Court approved the hiring of 63 Priority 1A-1C position requests with an approved hire date of January 2023.
Since the approval of the Commissioners Court, the Human Resources Department has received requests from a department who is seeking the use of salary savings or other funding sources to hire the approved position in advance expressing a need or urgency within their department. The department and positions are identified as:
Medical Examiner (1) Investigator, ME
The Human Resources Department has been in contact with the department and supports their request to hire in advance dependent on available funding. However, since the Commissioners Court approved the hiring of Priority 1 positions in January 2023, the Commissioners Court will need to authorize the advance hiring of this position from January 2023 hire date to December 2022 hire date.
The total salary and fringe benefits costs to activate and fill the above new positions starting in December 2022 (pay period beginning 12/19/22) instead of January 2023 will be $4,819 and is available through existing salary savings under the control of the Medical Examiners Department.
