| Subject: | Approve and authorize the County Judge to sign a letter of commitment for the El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for a grant application to develop a comprehensive safety action plan. If awarded the County will contribute general funds, in the amount of $50,000, contingent on the MPO receiving the grant award. | Background: | The El Paso MPO intends to submit a funding application to the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) federal program. The intent of SS4A is to eliminate fatalities and serious accidents in our regional multimodal transportation network through the development of safety action plans or though the funding of specific safety actions (i.e., projects, programs). SS4A is also focusing on underserved communities, which tend to have higher rates of fatalities and serious accidents. The MPO’s application will focus on developing a comprehensive safety action plan. |
