The VISTA two-step application process was completed and accepted and approved for fundingfor year 1-Capacity Buildingby AmeriCorps VISTA. A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the grant award was sent by AmeriCorps with a two day turn around deadline to receive the award. As a result of this short deadline, this MOA was not able to be posted on any Commissioners Court meeting for Court approval. To not forego the grant award, the County Attorney urgently reviewed the MOA to have the document signed by the County Judge and electronically submitted by the deadline. This agenda item is posted to ratify the signing and submission of the MOA.Please note, this is not an official award acceptance, rather a preliminary step to receive the Notice of Grant Award at a later date.
The grant is a multi-year program that will address the following: Resources through the AmeriCorps VISTA Program grant will support the commitment to develop and implement programs in efforts to eradicate and increase social mobility in rural communities from the County run Community Centers of Agua Dulce, Fabens and Canutillo. The plan is to develop and create an effective support system that will enhance social mobility and improve access to public services for rural households.
Tentative funding period:
• 1st year (18 months)-Capacity Building
• 2nd year (12 months)-Implementation
• 3rd year (12 months)-Sustainability
This initiative will help us deliver on strategic plan objective 6.3.
