Item Title:County Court Administration - Community Supervision Officer III for the DWI Drug Treatment Program
Submitted By:Amy Lechuga, County Court Administrator, County Court Administration (915) 546-2093
Subject:

Discuss and take appropriate action to authorize operational funding for a Community Supervision Officer III for the County Criminal Court #2 DWI Drug Court Treatment Program in the amount of $69,705. Funds are available in GF-GADM-OPS CONTINGENCIES.

Background:

This specialty Court provides services to participants who have been arrested for DWI. The Court provides the participants with outreach programs to keep them from remaining in the system and has had a success rate of 97% in the Treatment Program, largely due to the teams efforts and the personal attention the supervision officer provides to each participant.

Best practice is for each probation officer to have a caseload of 35 participants, currently they are supervising 54 clients/participants. The participant rate has increased by 35% and continues to increase. The operational funds would help support contract services with CSCD for a probation officer to provide services to participants at a reasonably acceptable standard caseload.

Fiscal Impact:

Funds in the amount of $69,705 are available in:
