In February and March 2021 a number of courts on the 7th-12th floors of the courthouse experienced water damage as a result of leaks and a pipe breakage in the courthouse.  The County has allocated contingency funding to address the building infrastructure repairs (pipes, walls, paint, flooring, etc.)  Water also accumulated on various equipment components and furnishings.

At this time the council has requested to de-obligate available capital funding previously approved for another purpose and approve a reallocation of that funding to replace these items. Some of the audio/visual items are still pending testing and if deemed operable may not ultimately be replaced and not require capital funding which would revert back to the CIP fund.

This allocation will allow for these courts to have their very aged (most of which in original furniture 20+ years old) updated and refreshed along with the courts that have received new walls, paint and flooring.  We have met with our facilities department who agrees that while the current furnishings could be continued to be used they are very old and truly in need of replacement.
