The agreement with the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority (CRRMA) authorizes the County to utilize the CRRMA's procurement process, to select civil engineers with expertise in bus shelter design and construction protocols required by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). This initiative was identified in as part of the FY2020/FY2021 Capital Improvement Program and includes site plan design and construction of facilities. The current funding will fund the construction of four sites along County Transit routes, which will be identified by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) as part of the ongoing route planning and bus-shelter location studies. The shelters will be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and conform to Federal Transit Administration standards.

The amendment adds Construction, Engineering and Inspection (CE&I) to the contract needed for the construction services. Design of the shelters is expected to be completed at the end of calendar year 2020 and construction of shelters will begin shortly thereafter. The County continues to work with TxDOT regarding potential funding opportunities to expand the service delivery and installation of all bus stops, shelters and benches throughout the County's service area.

On July 26, 2021 - Approve and authorize the County Judge to sign the Second Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement for Procurement and Placement of Bus Shelters for El Paso County Transit, with the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority. The amendment adds Construction, Engineering and Inspection (CE&I) to the contract needed for the construction services. On December 16, 2019 - Approve and authorize the County Judge to sign the interlocal agreement with the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority for the procurement and placement of bus shelters for El Paso County Transit in an amount not to exceed $332,920 effective the date of signature for a three-year term.  Funding is available in CIP20-PWADMIN-IMPROVEMENTS-ADA.  (Contract No. 2019-0962)
