(Contract No. 2021-0626) | | Background: | The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) El Paso District has requested participation from the County in acquiring the necessary right-of-way for a major widening and construction project of Montana Ave.( US Highway 62) Global Reach to FM 659 Zaragosa Rd. Specifically Phase II wherein the project will widen the existing highway as well as provide for the construction of added improvements along the stretch of highway. The total estimated construction project cost is $160,479,919.28, which is being funded solely by TxDOT-El Paso District.
The funding agreement under consideration is to participate in the acquisition of right-of-way for the project only as required by statute. If approved, staff will present an interlocal agreement with the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority to issue payment to TxDOT, on behalf of the County, for FY21 and FY22.
