| Background: | Each year the County supports up to six cultural heritage tourism events through the award of up to $5,000 in grant funding through County Hotel Occupancy Tax revenue. Events must show proof of increase in hotel occupancy, are provided the funds on a reimbursement basis, once documentation is submitted to staff showing proof that the funds were applied towards event related expenses that are allowable under the Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax Code.
This year, the Cultural Heritage Society (CHS) has applied for HOT funds in the amount of $12,000 to support the first annual Binational History Conference: The History that Unites Us. Funds are requested to cover production costs including virtual and live streaming, equipment and facility rentals, as well as marketing. |
