(Contract No. 2021-0535) | | Background: | On February 5, 2018, the County was awarded a historic preservation grant in the amount of $24,000 from the Texas Historical Commission (THC) Texas Preservation Trust Fund (TPTF) in support of the Casa Ronquillo Restoration Project. The award period has been amended and extended several times as the County developed the site plan to reflect the recommendations and feedback of the THC, County Historical Commission and Mission Trail community. The extensions also allowed the County the time needed to negotiate with adjacent property owners for access and storm water retention options, as well as negotiate and complete the acquisition of a parcel of agricultural land directly adjacent to the structure. This land is needed for installation of required amenities such as restrooms and wheel chair accessibility. Accessibility and restrooms, along with the installation of additional amenities such as parking, event space, a utility closet for equipment and wifi access points, will be completed in a future phase of the project. A recent extension included an award expansion bringing the total grant to $54,000 with a County match of equal value using HOT funds.
At this time, staff is requesting the Court authorize the County Judge to sign the request for reimbursement reflecting the expenditures associated with the roof restoration portion of the project applied towards the grant award. Staff is also requesting Judge sign the fifteen year grant of easement, required by all award recipients. The two documents complete the final report package due to the THC as a means of receiving reimbursement of County HOT funds expended on the roof as part of the Casa Ronquillo Restoration Project.
Upon conclusion of the final reporting period, if it is the will of the Court, staff will continue to pursue funding opportunities from the THC TPTF in support of County preservation projects and initiatives.

February 5, 2018 Item 12: Commissioners Court approved the funding agreement with the THC awarding the County $30,000 from the TPTF with a $30,000 grant match to be allocated towards the Casa Ronquillo Restoration Project.
