| Background: | The County of El Paso is currently providing health insurance coverage for Medicare eligible retirees and their spouses through Medicare Group Agreements with Aetna Life Insurance Company. On November 2, 2020, the Commissioners Court approved the Aetna Medicare Advantage Plan Rate Proposal and Renewal from Aetna Life Insurance Company for plan year 2021. The agreement outlines the benefits, provisions, rights, and responsibilities for participation in the Medicare Advantage Plan by eligible retirees and their dependents. There are no significant changes to the language in the 2021 Group Agreement.
The County currently has approximately 155 Medicare Eligible retirees/dependents enrolled in the Aetna Medicare Advantage Plan for plan year 2021. The County subsidizes 50% of the Medicare Advantage Plan premiums. The member’s premium is $108.60 per month, and the County also pays $108.60 per member per month.
