The County celebrated the ribbon-cutting of the first-time wastewater system in the Desert Acceptance (Square Dance) community in 2019. As part of the project, Infrastructure Services provided first-time paving of roads in the area, however, a group of roadways on the eastern side of the subdivision were excluded to allow staff the opportunity to explore completing water system access to approximately 50 lots in the area.
Upon completion of the waste-water service, Moreno Cardenas, Inc., the engineering design consultant who worked on the wastewater system design, agreed to donate their design services toward providing these lots with access to clean potable water. The design advanced the opportunity to extend first-time water services to these outstanding lots.
To facilitate construction of the project, staff has coordinated with El Paso Water to provide certain aspects of the installation services. Certain aspects of the work will be completed internally by Infrastructure Services to help keep the project within the proposed budget of $400,000. El Paso Water has agreed to reduce administrative overhead and supervision costs to partner with the County on these critical service lines.
