| Background: | The County currently celebrates Columbus Day each year in October. In an effort to maintain a diverse and inclusive culture within the County workforce, research was conducted regarding this particular holiday to best determine whether a name change to the Columbus Holiday might be needed. This information was presented to the court on September 17, 2020. Based on the guidance received, this policy amendment will change the name of the currently recognized Columbus Day holiday to Indigenous People's Day. |
