The KBDI has been increasing either three or four points daily since the Court’s last public update June 15. As of Tuesday, El Paso’s fire danger was “moderate,” according to the Texas A&M Forest Service, down from “high” on June 15. El Paso was still not in drought as of June 18, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor, but rather was “abnormally dry.” The National Weather Service, El Paso, issued a heat advisory for Monday June 22, but also projected possible thunderstorms Tuesday through Thursday. The Court will receive an update of drought conditions as of June 29. Staff will also update the Court on preparations in advance of July 4, including a health department order for fireworks vendors.
