| Background: | Due to the ongoing circumstances surrounding COVID-19 the federal government approved the apportionments and allocations of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act for Public Transportation to help to prevent, prepare for and respond to the COVID-19 Pandemic. These funds will provide 100% funding to continue the County's Intercity Bus Route (Gold Route), which provides public transportation services to El Paso County residents that commute to and from El Paso County and Las Cruces, NM; the service links the Town of Anthony, to El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, New Mexico and is the result of an innovative partnership between the County, the Texas Department of Transportation and the New Mexico Department of Transportation. |
