(Contract No. 2020-0543) | | Background: | As authorized under Section 101 of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (P.L. 107-252) (HAVA) and provided for in the CARES Act, 2020 (Public Law 116-136), the purpose of this award is to “prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus, domestically or internationally, for the 2020 Federal election cycle.”
With this grant funding, the El Paso County Elections Department plans to: 1. Utilize a vendor to provide a ballot tracker system for ballots that will be mailed out to registered voters;
2. Purchase a notification system for curbside voting;
3. Order necessary supplies to include additional ballot paper, activation cards, and envelopes and labels;
4. Hire additional temporary staff to assist with check-in processes, curbside assistance, phone bank operations, and mail ballot requests/processing; and
5. Purchase additional voting machines and cleaning supplies, as well as PPE.
