(Contract No. 2019-0754) | | Background: | The Court has authorized the use of a portion of County Hotel Occupancy Tax revenue to fulfill individual requests from qualifying organizations, up to a maximum of $5,000 per award, in order to fund certain events that are expected to increase County tourism, and thereby hotel occupancy.
Tom Lea Month takes place in October each year, providing an entire month of multidisciplinary events and programming at various venues throughout the County, in celebration of famous El Paso artist and historian, Tom Lea. This year, funds are requested in support of production costs and artist fees associated with the From Darkness to Light event at the Holocaust Museum, and the multi-media presentation by the El Paso Symphony. Grant award will also help cover the costs of a postage and graphic design for a schedule of events brochure to be distributed in the communities of Austin, New Orleans, Odessa, Fredericksburg, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. | | Fiscal Impact: | Funding is available in the amount of $5,000 from:
