The Information Technology Department’s (ITD) utilizes various security appliances on our enterprise network to proactively protect the County network from internet-based threats. This appliance in particular functions as a firewall, an intrusion detection system and an internet filter. The Firewall monitors incoming and outgoing network traffic based on security rules.

The Intrusion Detection System monitors our network for malicious activity. The Internet Filter is used to prevent users from accessing malicious or unapproved Internet content. It not only blocks websites, but also will filter specified content within webpages proactively to provide secure browsing and help protect from internet-based threats.

To ensure the County is obtaining the overall best value, to include pricing and terms, the Purchasing Department and the Information Technology Department reviewed available cooperative contracts and determined that the contract held by Sigma Technologies Solutions, Inc. through Region 19 conforms to the County’s needs.
