Item Title:Public Works - Removal of concrete floor & installation of new floor in the eastside portion of Courthse LL Floor

Subject:Approve and authorize the removal of the existing concrete floor and the installation of the new floor in the eastside portion of the Courthouse Lower Level floor.  Additionally, authorize a budget transfer not to exceed $510,000 for this portion of the project as well as previously discussed sidewalk improvements from CP-CPCAPITAL12-MISCELLANEOUS to CP-CPCRTHSIMP12-RENOVATIONS.  
Background:

The approval of this project will ensure a complete project build out and upgrade of the lower level floor. The existing flooring is flaking throughout the area. With the other improvements in the space (as a part of the base bid), the condition of the existing floor will be exposed even more.  Additionally, some of the flaking could be a tripping hazard.         

 

Benefits – Access to the area can be complicated which could be costly as a separate standalone project. Taking advantage of the contractor already being on site for the other portions of the project will save cost due to mobilization and other overhead cost from the contractor, as well as savings on the overall down time of this affected construction area.               The court has previously received information regarding the need for the replacement of the first floor sidewalk as well but the actual allocation of available 2012 bond proceeds has yet to be approved by the court. 

 

This funding allocation will allow for the consideration of exercising all possible improvement options being provided to the County.
