| Subject: | Approve and authorize the use of funds from the District Attorney's discretionary and food stamp fraud accounts to continue to pay salaries and operating expenses funded by the VAWA grant #1343722 (Contract No. 2019-0141) and the Border Prosecution Unit grant #2283710 (Contract No. 2019-0188) for the grant period beginning September 1, 2019, until the funds for the grants are awarded. Funds are available in SPECIALDA and DAFOODSTFRA if necessary, and would be reimbursed to those accounts out of grant funds received. |

It is expected that these two grants will be renewed by the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division. Historically, the District Attorney's Office receives word of the renewal and the awarding of requested funding after the expiration of the prior grant and after the new grant year begins on September 1.
If approved by Commissioners Court, the District Attorney will utilize discretionary funds in the SPECIALDA or DAFOODSTFRA accounts for salaries and operating expenses under these grants until the grant funding is awarded. Funds utilized from the discretionary accounts during the gap in funding would be reimbursed to those accounts from the grant funding received for the new fiscal year. Funding was verified by the Budget Department. |
