| Background: | Communities In Schools (CIS) is a recognized, evidenced based program as noted in the Department of Education's "What Works" clearinghouse, and is the nation's largest dropout prevention organization demonstrating that it is unique in having an effect on both reduction of dropout rates and increasing graduation rates. Their intensive case management services produce the strongest reduction in dropout rates of any existing fully scaled dropout prevention program. CIS has strong fiscal and programmatic accountability systems in place to support this project and have been servicing at-risk youth and their parents since their inception in El Paso 34 years ago. |
