| Background: | The Information Technology Department (ITD) manages and maintains the equipment and software used by the Sheriff’s Department. The In-Motion products provide a secure, encrypted and stable connection with a built-in GPS receiver that allows the equipment in the Sheriff’s Office Patrol vehicles with the method to securely connect (remote access) to the County network to utilize applications such as Odyssey, Email, and department data files to be able to perform their duties.
ITD is seeking approval to renew the County’s In-Motion maintenance agreement with Insight Public Sector. Insight Public Sector is U.S. Communities authorized provider for Sierra Wireless IT Products and Services under US Contract No. 4400006644 valid through April 30, 2021. This maintenance agreement provides technical support and product updates to the In-Motion products used by the Sheriff’s Department for a period starting September 30, 2019 through December 31, 2020.
Requisition 11911101 has been vetted and approved by the County’s Purchasing Department, and upon Commissioners Court approval it will be converted to a purchase order.
Legal review was required and has been completed by County Attorney’s Office on August 22, 2019.
