Item Title:HR- Holiday Leave Policy***

Subject:Approve and authorize the revision to the County of El Paso's Holiday Leave Policy.
Background:

The management of the County's most important assets, its employees, and good morale among County employees is essential to effective government and the efficient provision of governmental services to the citizens of El Paso County. A good understanding of employment policies and procedures together with uniform and fair administration is essential to the development and maintenance of good employee relations. As such, the County's HR Department, shall revise and implement County policies, as necessary, to ensure a progressive County organization.

 

The Holiday Leave Policy has been edited to reflect the following items:

  • The current policy requires that employees work or be on paid leave the day before and the day after a holiday to be paid the holiday.
    • However, there is an exception that allows employees who are retiring from the County through TCDRS whose final day of County employment falls on a holiday. 
    • This exception is being extended to those employees whose final day falls on a holiday that is also the end of the term for the Elected Official for whom they worked.

 

This policy has been reviewed for legal compliance by the County Attorney's Office and approved by the County of El Paso's Civil Service Commission.

Fiscal Impact:No changes as a result of this policy.
Recommendation:Approve and authorize the revision to the County of El Paso's Holiday Leave Policy.
Prior Action:This policy was last revised on June 4, 2018.
