| Background: | The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) El Paso District has requested participation from the County in acquiring the necessary right-of-way for a major widening and construction project of Loop 375, Purple Heart Memorial Highway, from Montana Avenue (US Highway 62) to Liberty Expressway (Spur 601). Specifically, the project will widen the exiting highway from four to six lanes as well as provide for the construction of two frontage (access) roads along the stretch of highway. The total estimated construction project cost is $59,252,973, which is being funded solely by TxDOT-El Paso District. The funding agreement under consideration is to participate in the acquisition of right-of-way for the project only. |
