| Subject: | Receive a presentation and provide direction on the County of El Paso’s Hotel Occupancy Tax Policy.

| Background: | Development and establishment of the County’s Hotel Occupancy Tax Policy has been identified as a strategic priority of the Commissioners Court. As such, Economic Development Staff has been conducting research in the development of the County’s Policy and Guidelines. The purpose of the County’s HOT Policy is to establish guidelines for the use of revenue obtained by the County pursuant to Texas Tax Code Chapter 352. It is the County’s intent to use HOT Revenue to promote historic preservation and heritage tourism, and to attract conventions and visitors likely to increase hotel occupancy.
Staff has prepared a presentation on a proposed HOT Policy and is seeking direction from the Commissioners Court before final adoption.
