| Subject: | Approve and authorize the County Judge to sign a letter of support for the City of El Paso which is applying for a 2019 U.S. Department of Transportation BUILD grant for the new multi-level Cohen Center parking garage redevelopment for the future entertainment district located in Northeast El Paso. |
| Background: | The City of El Paso is submitting a grant application for the 2019 U.S Department of Transportation BUILD grant which can be awarded based on eligible economic competitiveness, quality of life, broad range of stakeholders, and innovation projects within scope for planning, preparation, design of eligible projects, and pre-construction activities on a competitive bases.
If awarded, the City of El Paso intends to use the grant to build a new public parking garage at the Cohen Entertainment District which will serve as an element to indicate future development as shovel ready. The two-bay parking facility will be conveniently located near the entrance to the Cohen Entertainment District and is estimated to provide 700 parking spaces for daily and event parking.
