One of the subdivisions, Skyview Unit Four, has a proposed park that is scheduled to be maintained by the County once construction is complete, and as such, is subject to County standards, regulations and policies. The property owner has proposed naming the park after former El Paso educator Vernon L. Butler.
On November 9, 2012, the Commissioners Court adopted the County Property Naming Policy which prohibits the naming of County property after living persons (Section 2.1.5 of the attached policy). Given the requested variance from the standard, staff has prepared this agenda item to present a recommendation to the Commissioners Court. In accordance with the naming guidelines prescribed in Section 2.1.6, the staff recommendation is to name the park, "Skyview Park." | | Fiscal Impact: | None | | Recommendation: | Deny the proposed name, Vernon L.
