| Background: | Pursuant to Agreement 2018-0891 approved by Commissioners Court on December 17, 2018, the University Medical Center of El Paso is scheduled to take over the medical care for inmates in the El Paso County Detention Facilities at 12:01 a.m. on May 5, 2019.
The Agreement with the current vendor (2015-0458 as amended and extended through 2016-0771, 2017-0320, 2017-0672 and 2018-0510) is scheduled to expire on October 31, 2019. The Agreement has a clause that allows the County to terminate the Agreement early with 90 days written notice. |
| Fiscal Impact: | If the County does not give 90 days notice to terminate the Agreement to UTMB, the County will be obligated to continue to pay UTMB until the expiration of the Agreement, costing the County millions of dollars.
