The County of El Paso is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of its employees and family members. The Healthy Lifestyle Reimbursement Program is an incentive-driven initiative for full time regular employees who are enrolled in one of the County’s medical plan. The incentive encourages and supports employees to become healthier by providing a reimbursement for expenses incurred by participating in physical fitness activities at eligible facilities.
The program offers an incentive for County employees enrolled in the County’s Health Plan to adopt and maintain an active lifestyle by providing a reimbursement for membership fees up to $90 semi-annually or $180 annually for employees who regularly participate in activities at eligible fitness facilities. For plan year 2018, there were approximately 342 employees participating in an eligible fitness facility and approximately 90 employees received reimbursements through the Healthy Lifestyle program.
The Healthy Lifestyle Program Policy update clarifies language under the “Considerations” section which describes a requirement for employees to be enrolled in the medical plan as of the first day of the month for the months in which they are seeking reimbursement.
On December 19, 2018, the Risk Pool Board recommended for the Commissioners Court to approve the updated Healthy Lifestyle Reimbursement Program Policy.
This policy has been reviewed for legal compliance by the County Attorney's Office.
