| Background: | The Sheriff is seeking to hire up to six (6) temporary Animal Control Officers (GS13) for a period of six months utilizing the savings from two (2) vacant Deputy Sheriff positions. The temporary staff is needed to assist with an increased demand for services, including the recently added municipality of Horizon combined with Anthony, Clint, San Elizario and Vinton. The Sheriff's Office will use this time to analyze the performance of these positions which will allow them the ability to determine whether a formal request for new Animal Control Officer positions in FY20 is necessary.
