| Background: | The Information Technology Department (ITD) encounters challenges regarding its inequitably allocating its resources strategically. These challenges are primarily a result of the lack of independent resource allocation and long term planning. Because ITD provides technology services to thirty departments, it is not uncommon for their needs and priorities to occasionally conflict.
Developing of a strategic master plan can provide several benefits. The most important would be to improve IT prioritizing and assist in optimizing available resources which enable a framework of execution for long term goal attainment. Improving these available resources will increase efficiency in delivery and add quality to the services that ITD provides.

| Recommendation: | Following the presentation of the Strategic Master Plan, the Information Technology Department will place an item on the Regular Agenda for Commissioner’s Court on the following Monday, November 19, 2018 to have the plan formally approved by the Court, as per Contract No. 2018-0560. |
| Prior Action: | On December 18, 2017, Commissioners Court approved Contract No. 2017-0656 under item #18 for SDI Presence to provide a Five (5) Year Strategic IT Master Plan for the County. |
