| Background: | On September 17, 2018 (Item #20) Commissioners Court authorized the Public Works recommendation to accept the property. This item is for the approval of the donation and authorizes the County Judge to sign the acceptance of the transfer.
Under the current policy on Real Property Donations, the Public Works Department is responsible for the review and handling of any requests made by prospective donors. First, a Real Estate Acquisition Data Sheet is required to be submitted that details the information on the property. That information is then submitted for a review of the Division Managers Team so that the site is considered for its potential use by all programs – Road & Bridge, Facilities, CIP, Development, Parks and Recreation, etc. The property must be of extraordinary potential use. In the case of this property, it was determined that the size of this property would be beneficial to the County. It is the determination of the Public Works Director that this property be accepted for donation. Under the policy, if a determination to accept the donation is made, the Public Works Department will forward the relevant paperwork to the County Attorney’s Office to prepare the transfer paperwork. The department will then place the donation on the Commissioner Court agenda to approve the donation and authorize the County Judge to sign the acceptance of the transfer.
