Under the current policy on Real Property Donations, the Public Works Department is responsible for the review and handling of any requests made by prospective donors. First, a Real Estate Acquisition Data Sheet is required to be submitted that details the information on the property.  That information is then submitted for a review of the Division Managers Team so that the site is considered for its potential use by all programs – Road & Bridge, Facilities, CIP, Development, etc. The property must be of extraordinary potential use.

In the case of these three properties, several key factors were considered to evaluate the submissions, including existing infrastructure on the property, location to developing areas, property size, and road access.  These properties did not meet any of the relevant factors for favorable consideration, and it is the determination of the Public Works Director that these properties not be accepted for donation.  Under the policy, if a determination to not accept the donations is made, notification to the Commissioners Court is required as a consent agenda item, and written notification of the decision is required to the potential donors.
