| Subject: | Pursuant to the Property Tax Code, § 26.05 (d), propose a tax rate for the El Paso County Hospital District d/b/a University Medical Center of El Paso ("UMC"). It is the recommendation of the Board of Managers of UMC that the Court propose a tax rate of $0.251943 per $100 assessed value which consists of a rate of $0.197759 per $100 assessed value for the purpose of Maintenance and Operations, and a rate of $0.054184 per $100 assessed value for the purpose of payment of principal and interest of the debt of the District. |
| Background: | In accordance with Chapter 26 of the Texas Tax Code, it is requested that the Commissioners Court propose a tax rate for the El Paso County Hospital District for the 2018 tax year in the amount of $0.251943 per $100 assessed valuation, consisting of a rate of $0.197759 per $100 assessed valuation for maintenance and operations, and a rate of $0.054184 per $100 assessed valuation for payment of the principal and interest on the debt of the Hospital District. The Board of Managers for the Hospital District approved the requested tax rate at its meeting on July 31, 2018. |
| Fiscal Impact: | The proposed tax rate will generate approximately $109.8 million in tax revenue for FY2019 of which $86.2 million will be used for maintenance and operations and $23.6 million will be used for debt service. |
