| Subject: | Approve and authorize the County Judge to sign the required fair housing and civil right forms under the TxCDBG 7218025 & 7218015 for the Morning Glory Wastewater Project as required by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). (Contract No. 2018-0434) |
| Background: | In order to comply with the Federal Fair Housing regulations, the County of El Paso is required to demonstrate compliance with all state and federal requirements to ensure equal opportunity and access. Therefore, the County must conduct at least one activity during the contract period to affirmatively further fair housing. The Fair Housing Act provides for the protection of the following federally protected classes:
• Race and color;
• Religion;
• Sex;
• Handicap (Disability);
• National origin; and
• Familial status.
The County of El Paso traditionally adopts a resolution designating April as “Fair Housing Month”. With this designation along with the County’s Fair Housing policies, the County meets its fair housing obligations under its contracts with the Texas Department of Agriculture-TDA and Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs- TDHCA |
