(Contract No. 2017-0256) | | Background: | About 18 months ago, SISD, local residents and City of Horizon approached the County about the possibility of extending Ryderwood Rd to Emerald Pass due to the high volume of traffic in the area. Currently there are two schools, an elementary and a middle school. Ryderwood road dead-ends just passed the Middle School and during school hour’s morning/afternoon, this area is overwhelmed with traffic due to the fact that there is no outlet.
The Ryderwood Extension to connect Emerald Pass Ave. and Ryderwood Ave., is necessary to provide access from Emerald Pass Ave. to Ryderwood Ave. and will be a benefit to the citizens of El Paso County, Socorro Independent School District (SISD) and Horizon City.
The proposed improvements will include 60’ R.O.W (approximately 550 feet of new pavement), curb and gutter sidewalks, ponding, striping and signage.
